I wish I had found this Meme the other day when I wrote my first Synopsis the other day. I didn't think it would be so hard. Who Knew? I am proud of myself that I finally wrote one. It needs work, I think last lines are bit cheesy but its all I could think of. I *squeed* a little when I found this. The best part of writing a blog is finding all sorts of cool and fun images to post.
This one is so very true. Though I still managed in 1/2 hour word sprint to have a facebook conversation and write 200 words. (In my defense we were talking about Supernatural.)
Why post a picture of Mark Sheppard. Other then the fact this is my favorite picture of him and I'm a huge Mark Sheppard fan girl. (What can I say the man is been almost every show I have ever loved.) The story just structure in my head long before it hit paper. I cast Mark as David Matthew Howard in the movie in my head. He is married to the main character Suri-Rana-Tu.
My main couple is in their mid to late 40's which is different from many romance novels. I got tired of all Romance/erotica being centered around late teen/early years young women who are just begining to discover their sexuality/power etc. because of the mysterious man that comes into their life. I wanted to write about a woman who was confident, smart, strong and comfortable about her sexuality. Suri-Rana-Tu is an alien, so she does not look like your traditional romance novel heroine either. This is her story.
Why Aliens?
This story is based on a dream I had over 15 years ago. The basis of the dream was that I was alien from a planet that had two difference breed of aliens. I had disguised myself as the breed of alien that was more socially acceptable. I met a man who was the same type of alien I was but not in disguise. (it was a dream, so somethings don't make much sense.) He figured out who I was. Then I just remember spending the rest of dream being chased. The other thing I remember about the dream the aliens ate freeze dried lizards. I'm not sure why that stuck with me.
I started to developed this story years ago. That's when I got idea she was professor at a college and that had married a human who was also a professor. I never did anything with it.
A year and half ago I started writing again. I had discovered Supernatural and started to write fan fiction. I found that writing fan fiction made me want to write original stuff again. This idea was still laying about in head and decided it needed to written. This also was around the same time I found out my mother had cancer. Developing this story help me deal with my mothers illness by giving me something else to focus on.
The past year and half I have been working on this story. I envy those who can write a novel in month. I started to get in the habit of writing then stopped for a 6-8 months. Then I decided to start over. I scrapped the first draft. ( it was only 15 pages long so not a big deal.) In March I began in earnest writing again. I did Camp Nanowrimo in April. I didn't even come close to the goal of 1000 words a day. Even though I didn't "win" it was worth doing. I got a lot of encouragement and learned the joys of word sprints which I still suck at. Who knew Twitter had such a thriving writing community. Well there is a lot on twitter I'm not familiar with but thats besides the point.
I am glad I started writing again. I hesitated to call myself a writer just yet. I don't have a finished body of work so I feel like a fraud calling myself a writer. I write. I am writing a sci-fi romance/erotica novel. Apparently I can't write smut unless I have character development and a plot. I want to know why those people are fucking and want in it the context of developed story. I'm weird that way.
Now, back to writing...
After I check Facebook.
